Good Shepherd Day School is located near downtown Lexington. They are housed within the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and have been serving families for over 40 years.

The Day School offers an eclectic approach to learning that includes approaches and materials known by the divergent members of the staff. These approaches and materials may include, but are not limited to the following: Montessori, High Scope, Everyday Math, The Wright Group, The Creative Curriculum, and Handwriting Without Tears. We also adhere to the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards as set forth by the Kentucky Department of Education. Each classroom is planned around the theory of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) for individual children.

Lexington Catholic High was formed in 1951 and is on Clays Mill Road not far from Harrodsburg Road. They offer programs for grades 9th – 12th.

Lexington Christian Academy’s main campus (LCA) is located near Fayette Mall not far from Nicholasville Road. They also have a second campus for Preschool and Elementary on Tates Creek Road within Immanuel Baptist Church.

LCA Elementary challenges our students’ love of learning. The LCA 6th Grade Academy is a self-contained learning environment where students are INSPIRED TO LEARN. LCA’s 6th Grade Academy allows students to focus their God-given talents and excel academically as they LEARN TO LEAD.

LCA’s Junior High provides a warm and encouraging environment where students grow in their independence and develop academically, socially, and spiritually as they LEARN TO LEAD. The junior high experience is enhanced with sports, fine arts, honor societies, academic teams, and student government. LCA’s high school academic and college counselors guide students, advising them to listen to God’s calling for their path to success. Our curriculum includes a host of AP and Honors classes, arts, robotics and Bible in addition to core subjects. At Little Elks Preschool, your child will have access to a program that is guided and supervised by staff trained in early childhood education and presented in a safe environment.  We have developed a curriculum designed to provide happy and stimulating activities for children to experience as they begin the journey into the world of formal education.

We will include a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, art, music, movement, dramatic play, math and reading readiness. We will also help your child develop a love of learning through discovery, creativity, self-expression and new experiences.  These opportunities will prepare a strong foundation and kindergarten readiness.

Redwood Cooperative School was established in 2014 and serves students age 3 – middle school. Their campus is located off Nicholasville Road on Crestwood Drive. The school is set up as a cooperative so they rely on family involvement. Families may choose different tuition options, depending on the level of classroom involvement they have in the school.  The lowest amount of tuition requires the highest level of classroom involvement. 

Redwood Cooperative School was established in 2014 with the goal of encouraging children’s creativity and curiosity through constructivist, project-based learning.  Through this experiential education we aim to create a learning environment that nurtures the whole child, promoting equally all disciplines of education from Language Arts and Writing, to Math, Science, Social Studies, Play and Physical Education, Nature, Music and Visual Arts.

Redwood offers a hands-on, progressive education where children learn by actively participating in inquiry and investigation.  Through the incorporation of outdoor learning, civic engagement and environmental sustainability, we foster the development of the whole child.  During their time in our program, your child will not only acquire knowledge, but will develop higher order thinking skills as they analyze, evaluate and create while becoming problem solvers.

Sayre School was founded in 1854 and has continued to serve families in Lexington at their location in the heart of downtown.

Sayre School provides an innovative and inclusive learning environment that empowers students to achieve academic excellence, embrace challenge, and cultivate integrity in order to lead purposeful lives in an ever-changing world.

Sayre’s academic program spans three divisions from preschool through twelfth grade, with many of each year’s graduates having attended the school for twelve or more years. The academic program is rich in content and comprehensive in skill development, unfolding incrementally as it crosses grade levels. Our fundamental goal is to educate students to be independent thinkers, who graduate with the intellectual and emotional preparation needed to pursue their educational and personal goals with confidence and integrity. A warm, openly inclusive atmosphere pervades the school, bolstered by close relationships between faculty and students, where they learn to take intellectual risks and respectfully express opinions.

Summit Christian Academy was founded in 1986 as Assembly Christian School. They are located in the First Assembly of God church building on Clays Mill Road and serve students grades Kindergarten to 12th grade.

We know that academic excellence is one of the reasons why parents send their children to Summit Christian Academy and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. Our curriculum is designed to provide our students with a solid foundation that will help them to compete well in the challenging environment that awaits them in high school and college.

Lexington Latin School provides a classical Christian education for Jr. Kindergarten through 12th grade. They opened their doors in Their lower school is located on the campus of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and the upper school is located on the campus of Lexington City Church.

We seek to form students intellectually and spiritually into the image of God, empowering them to serve His kingdom and His mission, based on the moral tenants of the Faith in the Scriptures of the Holy Bible.

As a classical school, we focus on the classical language Latin, as well as the classical cultures of the Greeks and the Romans. We also adopt the classical trivium model of education, which describes three stages of learning: the grammar stage (roughly grades K-5), the logic stage (6-8), and the rhetoric stage (9-12).

The Lexington School is located near Versailles Road and offers programs for students in Preschool – 8th Grade. The school was founded in 1959 and features programming year round including summer camps.

The mission of The Lexington School is to provide an education of the highest quality to students in preschool through middle school. In a structured, nurturing environment, The Lexington School seeks to instill integrity, a life-long enthusiasm for learning, and a strong work ethic.

The Lexington School features a complete curriculum (Vertically-Aligned, K-8):  Everyday Math, Integrated Language Arts including Journeys, Lucy Calkins, Learning without Tears, and Daily Five, Social Studies, Science (K-8), Computer and integrated/applied technology, Art, Music, Modern Language (K-8), Physical Education, Drama (K-8), Library, Resource Room (K-8). Focus is on teaching 21^st Century Skills with active-learning methodology.

Trinity Christian Academy was established in 1988 and features programs for preschool – high school at two campuses in Lexington. The lower school meets at Tates Creek Presbyterian Church and the upper school meets at Anchor Baptist Church. They have a future campus planned for the Brannon Crossing area.

Trinity is a member of the Society for Classical Learning and is Lexington’s only accredited classical Christian day school. While private Christian education, as a whole, is on the decline, our culture is witnessing a rapid increase in classical Christian schools. What is unique about a classical education?

Classical education goes back in order to move us forward; it’s a resurgence of the time-tested model that cultivates a love of learning. Students are not simply given information to be reproduced on standardized tests, but instead are trained in the ways of knowledge, wisdom, and virtue. Practically speaking, this is achieved through three stages of learning coinciding with the natural development of children: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric.

Veritas Christian Academy formed in 2011 and is a school designed to supplement homeschool instruction. They feature programming for Junior Kindergarten – High School and meet just certain days each week depending on grade level.

At Veritas Christian Academy, we believe that each student is a gift from God, uniquely created to learn and grow in ways that glorify His name. We seek to foster an environment where students love to learn and build relationships with one another. Because of intentionality on the part of the school and because of God’s graciousness, the students, staff, and families have developed a unique and beautiful culture.

Veritas Christian Academy is a University-Model School, combining the best aspects of private and homeschooling. Veritas offers professional instruction two days a week for lower school (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and three days for upper (Tuesday-Thursday). Students continue their work under a parent’s tutelage at the home “satellite-campus” the remaining days. Because of the Lord’s blessing and the increased demand at our school, Veritas now offers an optional Wednesday program for our lower school with specialized tutoring and additional classes like art, drama, piano, strings, and guitar. After-school sporting activities including archery, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and cross country are now also available.

Wilmore Crossing Academy is micro school in Wilmore, KY providing a full range of classes for students in K to 12th grade. Using a tuition-based model, class sizes are limited to complement non traditional schooling, by employing discussion and experiential learning.

Rather than being a new idea, micro-schools are a reinvention of the old one-room schoolhouse concept.

Wilmore Crossing Academy provides a full range of classes for students in grades K through 12. A strong emphasis of the Academy is their elective course options. Many of the courses have a hands-on approach. As often as possible, classes are held outdoors or off-campus to provide varied experiences for their students. Students can enroll in just one or two courses, or there is an option to enroll in full-day schooling. Course offerings have included: Entrepreneurship/Business Marketing, English, Physical Science and Advanced Physical Science w/lab, Math, Geography, Cultures Club, Government, Civics Club, Mad Skills!, Art/Art History, Literature/Book Club, Spanish, and Debate Club.

Class sizes at Wilmore Crossing Academy are limited to complement non-traditional schooling. The number of students per class can range from 3 to 8, with the usual student-to-teacher ratio of about 5 to 1. Smaller classes allow for deeper learning through more discussion, less lecture and more hands-on exploration and research. Longer class periods provide a deeper focus on fewer subject areas, and online and experiential learning allow students to individualize their studies.
