Here comes New Year’s Eve, Lexington style! Lexington is celebrating its 250^th anniversary in 2025, and the year-long party officially starts on New Year’s Eve, inside at Central Bank Center.

New Year’s Eve at Central Bank Center, presented by Maker’s Mark, will feature a celebration for people of all ages with food trucks, beverages, music, and more. The event is free and open to the public.

“Come on downtown, and join the party. We’ve got something for everyone!” Mayor Linda Gorton said.

The fun begins at 5 p.m. with a first-of-its-kind celebration for children and families. Activities include inflatables, basketball, programming from the Lexington Children’s Museum, and a performance from M’Power Rhythm, Lexington’s youth-centered African drumming ensemble.  At 7 p.m., a special youth-centered countdown to the new year will be led by Mayor Gorton. The countdown in London will be live-streamed. “We want children to experience the excitement of a big countdown,” Gorton said. “The New Year’s Eve celebration in London happens on their timetable.”

The children’s event will continue to 8 p.m. in the main exhibition halls on the second floor of Central Bank Center.

Beginning at 9 p.m., it’s time for an older crowd to join the fun. Live music by “Tee Dee Young” and “Honeychild” will be at the center of the celebration. Food, drinks, and a special countdown to midnight led by Mayor Gorton will make for a festive experience for all.

There will be a Maker’s Mark area, where the official 250Lex cocktail will be served.

Eunice Beatty and Kip Cornett, 250Lex Commission Co-Chairs said, “The New Year’s Eve party kicks off a year of celebrating all things Lexington.”

Parking will be available on High Street. The High Street parking lot will open at 5 p.m. with an hourly rate for the evening. Ride share is encouraged. Ride-share drop-offs and pick-ups will be located on Vine Street.

Food and beverages are available for purchase. A clear bag policy will be enforced.
