You can’t miss Wonderworks when you drive into Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  The huge, white, upside-down house has always been a cool attraction just from the outside as we head into the Smokies each year.  This year we decided to head inside and have some fun while on our vacation!

When you head in the lobby is decorated like you have just walked into the upside down living room inside this upside down house!  Furniture, doors, paintings, and more all line the ceiling and walls.  It’s a great way to keep kids entertained while you wait in line for tickets.

We had a Groupon which was a great deal – watch for coupons and deals throughout the year online and in those coupon books you can get at restaurants and visitors centers in the area.  Regular tickets start at $18.99 for kids.  The great thing is that you can stay all day or play then leave and come back later in the day!

I suggest arriving early or just after the morning rush so the lines aren’t as bad.  We went on a very misty, dreary day during peak season so crowds were high by the time we headed out.

Wonderworks is divided into various areas focused on different kinds of fun.  You can learn a lot while you are there too so take time to check out some of the information while you’re playing.

My kids loved the sports area with pop a shot, rock climbing and a huge bike.  We skipped the bike but saw lots of folks having a blast!  It was good to get in some rock climbing early before the crowds picked up.  The other area that gets SUPER crowded with LONG waits is the ropes course.  Lines can be over an hour for this area so you definitely want to get there early or stop by on a day when crowds may be lighter.

The ropes course was a big hit with my kids.  They are hooked up to harnesses, given instructions, and sent up on their way.  The course is three levels high and had lots of different challenges – walk across planks, balance on a rope, and more.  You must sign a waiver and wear closed toed shoes for the ropes course.

There is so much to do and kids and adults will both enjoy this unique spot in the Smokies!
