Have you ever wondered what the American Civil War looked like 154 years ago in Kentucky?

On Oct. 5th & 6th, 2019 it’s your chance to see one of the most important battles fought in Kentucky, unfold at the 2019 Battle of Perryville – A National Civil War Re-enactment, at Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site.  Perryville is just outside Danville and only about an hour from Lexington.

Battle History

On October 8, 1862 the Confederate Army of Mississippi and the Union Army of the Ohio met on the farm fields surrounding the small community of Perryville, Kentucky. Before the day was over nearly 2,500 men lay dead and another 5,000 wounded men filled every barn, church and house in the area. The struggle that occurred that day was a Confederate victory; however, Union forces greatly outnumbered the Southerners, which forced Bragg’s Army to retreat from Perryville and eventually withdraw into Tennessee.
