The YMCA of Central Kentucky invites parents and caregivers to a Back to School Open House on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at all four YMCA of Central Kentucky locations. A new school year means a fresh start for kids – a chance to start new routines and habits, build new friendships and explore new possibilities and interests. Register for before and/or after school care on July 15 and the $35 per student enrollment fee will be waived.

“This is an excellent opportunity for new and returning families to get registered early, save money and be ready for the upcoming school year,” said Vice President of Youth Development Jessica Berry. Come meet our staff, tour our facility, win special giveaways, ask questions and even enroll while your children have fun making new friends and engage in fun activities.

The Y is a leading nonprofit committed to nurturing the potential of every child, supporting their social-emotional, cognitive and physical development. In the YMCA of Central Kentucky’s before and after school programs, youth receive homework help, healthy snacks and enrichment opportunities like art, music and physical activities.

The YMCA of Central Kentucky operates 10 sites across Central Kentucky. Before school care starts between 7-7:15 a.m. (depending on location) and runs to the start of the school day.  After school care runs from the time of school dismissal through 6 p.m. The before and after school program is open to children in K-8. Some after school transportation options are available.

“Youth in Y before and after school programs demonstrate improvement in the values, skills, attitudes and behaviors needed for success in school and life. Y programs give kids time to explore and help fill gaps in schools and communities where some opportunities like art, music and physical activity are limited,” said Berry.

“Commonwealth Credit Union takes pride in helping to better the lives of those in the communities we serve. We’re excited to join forces with the YMCA to help make a difference in the community,” said Chief Marketing Officer Patty Smith. YMCA afterschool programs are sponsored, in part, by Commonwealth Credit Union.

The YMCA also offers an Out of School Day Care Program during single day holidays, longer holiday breaks and in-service days for $30 per day at YMCA locations.

The Y is for everyone and membership is not required to enroll in the YMCA’s Before and After School Programs or Out of School Day Care Program. We also do not refuse service based on inability to pay. Financial assistance is available.
