FREE for ALL Families!
Looking for something to do with the kids on Presidents’ Day? Check out a free special event for children and their families at the Mary Todd Lincoln House! Meet Mrs. Lincoln and enjoy hands-on fun inspired by the childhoods of Mary Todd and Abraham Lincoln, including writing with quill pens, playing marbles, Abe-or-Mary trivia, and other activities. The interactive event is designed for children ages 5-10, but all are welcome.
Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last entrance at 3 p.m.) on Monday, February 17. Allow one hour for your visit. Please note, entrance is subject to capacity limits. The Mary Todd Lincoln House is located at 578 West Main Street in downtown Lexington.
This free event is offered in partnership with 250Lex and a “History Hop” day that also includes the Lexington History Museum and Ashland: the Henry Clay Estate. Information about the “History Hop” is available at www.lexhistory.org/history-hop/.
The Mary Todd Lincoln House is the childhood home of Mrs. Lincoln. She brought her husband and children to visit the Todd family here in 1847. The first historic site restored to honor a first lady, the museum’s mission is to cultivate public interest in the multilayered past by sharing the story of a woman whose experiences resonate today. Further info at www.mtlhouse.org.
The museum is operated by Kentucky Mansions Preservation Foundation, a private non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and
promoting historic properties.
