HG Library: Pumpkin Carving Contest

We’ll provide the pumpkins and the tools – you provide the creativity! Participants will pick their favorites. Prizes will be awarded to the three favorite designs. Please register.

Family Game Night
Thursday, October 18 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Start a new tradition – game night! Bring the whole family for pizza, drinks, and a variety of classic board games plus Xbox and Wii multi-player games. Please register. 3rd

Annual Boo-Wow Walk
Saturday, October 27 12:00 pm
Dress-up your best (canine) friends and bring them to the library for trick- or-treat. Participants vote for their favorite costumes in big, medium and small dog categories. Prizes will be awarded that day. Fun for the whole family, especially the dog! Dogs must be on a leash. Please register.

Sunday Funday: Project Linus Blankets Sunday, October 7 2:00 pm Enjoy family time at the library with our hands-on, collaborative activities. All supplies are provided for this FREE program. This program is designed for families to work together. Join us as we make blankets to donate to Project Linus. Please register.

3rd Thursday @ Your Library
Thursday, October 18 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Third Thursday programs are designed with home-schooling families’ needs in mind. This month an artist from the Living Arts and Science Center will teach participants about a specific medium of art. Everyone will complete a piece to take home! Please register.

Waggin’ Tales
Saturday, October 20 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
If you’re in kindergarten – 5th grade, and would like to read a book to a dog, here’s your chance! Children can sign up for a 15 minute time slot. Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your designated time so that you can choose a book to read. Please register.

Teens
Teen programs are for students in grades 6 through 12. Please register for all Teen programs.

Come hang out and compete against other teens with the latest in Xbox Kinect and Wii games.

Fall Break Craft

This Fall Break from school, make lovely winged creatures from vivid autumn leaves! All supplies provided.

Animé & Manga Club
Thursday, October 11 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Join the club to meet teens who love animé and manga as much as you do! We will meet on the second Thursday of each month to screen animé, discuss print and animated formats, and explore Japanese culture. Authentic Japanese refreshments will be served. In October, we’ll be hosting Manga drawing instructor, Stephen Moore. We will also be screening episodes from the anime series Fairy Tail.

Crafty Teen Workshop

Crafting this month is for the birds! Create your own pumpkin bird feeder, birdseed star ornament, or both! All supplies provided.
Retro Gaming Saturday, October 20 3:00-5:00 pm
Retro Gaming for teens and adults! Come relive the past with Atari games, lego challenges, and more!

ALL AGES Costume Party
Tuesday, October 30 7:00 pm
Dress up in your favorite costume and meet Spiderman, Batman and Elmo! We will have a costume parade beginning at 7:00 pm followed by a time to visit stations around the library to receive goodies and photo opportunities with Spiderman, Batman and Elmo. Registration is NOT required for this event. Remember to bring your camera!

 

 

Weekly Preschool Storytimes

 

No registration is required for these programs, so please attend as often as you are able.
Mother Goose Storytime Mondays & Tuesdays 10:00 am & 11:30 am Age: 0 – 2 years
Interaction between adults and their children is encouraged through stories, lap songs and fingerplays.
Preschool Storytime Tuesdays at 7:00 pm Wednesdays 10:00 am & 11:30 am Age: 3 – 5 years
Each session includes 25-30 minutes of outstanding stories, poetry, fingerplays, singing and dancing followed by an age-appropriate art activity or dramatic play.
Jump & Jive Fridays at 10:30 am Age: 0 – 5 years
This high-energy program is specifically geared for kids 0-5 years of age. Families will have fun together as they enjoy age-appropriate songs, rhymes and fingerplays.
