Can math be beautiful, and can art be rational? Explore with us some of the structures and symmetries of musical forms in multiple styles, from the magic of canonic imitation that has fascinated composers since the Middle Ages to the venerable Art of the Fugue by J.S. Bach. Then we present a jazzy and spirited string quartet Mathematica composed by Detroit Symphony cellist Dr. Jeremy Crosmer.
