Discover the Jungle! Join us for the auditions of “Jungle Book Kids,” a vibrant journey through the jungle, adapted from Disney’s beloved animated film and the works of Rudyard Kipling. This production, under the direction of Daesh Miller with music by Letha Hembree, invites children aged 4-9 to explore the story of Mowgli, a human boy learning the ways of the jungle.
The Story: Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, navigate the perils and wonders of the jungle. They encounter characters like the sinister snake Kaa, a herd of elephants, and the jovial bear Baloo, who introduces Mowgli to the musical rhythms of their world. Their adventure includes a confrontation with the mischievous King Louie and his band of monkeys, leading to a climactic battle to restore peace in the jungle.
Audition Details:
- Audition Date: February 3rd
- Audition Time: 11:00 AM
- Age Group: 4-9
- Performance Dates: May 10th to 19th
- Rehearsal Schedule: Saturdays
- Tuition: $85 per month before discounts and financial assistance
- Financial Assistance: Available; meet with Miss Letha at the audition; no student turned away due to lack of funds
- Inclusive: Spotlight is proud to include students with challenging and special needs in its productions.
- Casting Policy: Every child who auditions will be cast.
- Audition Details: For musicals, a song is required for consideration for a leading role; any song will do, even “Happy Birthday”. Just show up and follow directions – no pressure!

Opportunities in the Show: Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS offers a large, expandable ensemble with many strong, featured roles for good singers. Characters like Baloo and King Louie are perfect for kids with strong comedic skills. The chorus can include a variety of jungle inhabitants, from animals to plants, and involves easy unison singing, making it an excellent choice for young performers.
