Join us for an Earth Day celebration at The Arboretum. The following events are highlighted this year, as part of our Earth Day event:
Tree Giveaway
A tree giveaway in partnership with LG&E. LG&E and KU will be hosting a tree seedling giveaway at The Arboretum. The giveaway will begin at 10 am, and will run on a first come-first serve basis until there are no longer trees available. One tree per household, please.
City Nature Challenge
City Nature Challenge 2026 observation day at the Arboretum. Join Arboretum staff and volunteers as they record iNaturalist observations for the 2026 City Nature Challenge (CNC). This global citizen science event invites participants to record plant and wildlife observations in your local communities for one weekend, in an effort to better assess global biodiversity in urban habitats. No prior experience with CNC is necessary to participate; downloading the iNaturalist app prior to the event is encouraged. The app free to download through the iNaturalist website, as well as through the Apple App or Google Play stores.
Kentucky Children’s Garden
Join us for special programs focused on conservation and sustainability! These programs will take place from 10am to 1pm, but the garden will remain open until 5 pm. Regular admission rates apply: $4.00 per person ages 2 and above, free for KCG members.
Exhibitors
Along the path from the Visitor Center to the Kentucky Children’s Garden, we will host local organizations and clubs, such as the Living Arts and Science Center, Celebrate Lexington!, and GleanKY, to share hands-on activities and information on how they support the Earth!
