The Living Arts and Science Center inspires participation in art and science by engaging the community through education, discovery, exploration and creativity.  They offer a variety of summer camps for kids of all ages!

At the LASC, we believe that learning should be fun – for all ages. Camps are offered for Pre-K to 8th grade! This year they also have some fun camps for 18+!

Dino Dig

Join us for a week-long adventure straight from the prehistoric world of dinosaurs! Students will explore different kinds of dinosaurs and discover modern animals that evolved from them. Participants will take part in hands-on activities such as dinosaur digs, hatching dinosaur eggs, dinosaur walks around LASC, examining fossils, and cracking open their own geode to take home.

Slime Lab

Goggles on! Get ready to get messy and creative with our Slimy Art class! This fun-filled camp is all about exploring the squishy, stretchy world of slime through art and science. Prepare for launch—your space mission begins now! In Space Mission, campers will explore the wonders of outer space through exciting art and hands-on science projects. Campers will visit the planetarium, create their own solar systems and constellations, and help design and build a mini breakout game for The Living Arts & Science Center’s Space Lab. This immersive camp is perfect for young astronauts who love to create, explore, and imagine beyond the stars! At the end of the week, parents and staff will be invited into the Space Lab to try to crack the code of the Space Mission designed by these young, brilliant minds.

Studio Week

In this Art & Clay Studio camp, students will explore food-inspired art using a variety of materials and techniques. Welcome to The Craft Lab where the world of DIY meets imagination! In this creative camp students will dive deep into the exciting world of arts and crafts, exploring new ways to express themselves through design. Students will also explore their artistic process, collaborate with fellow classmates and gain skills to continue crafting long after camp ends. Welcome to a wild week of animal-inspired art design. Young artists will explore habitats, adaptations, and ecosystems while creating clay animals, sensory habitat bins, and stamped animal footprints. Cooking and Sculpture in the same class, who would have thought! In this class, students will take a deep dive into learning basic cooking skills and then take it a step further by creating fun food sculptures. Students will learn to bake and cook simple meals that their whole family can enjoy for dinner. Students will also spend the afternoons learning to work with paper mache and plaster. They will create 3D sculptures in the representation of REAL food items. Don’t miss the ultimate food challenge. Is it real or fake?

Time Travelers

Step into a time-traveling adventure designed for curious students! Each day, campers will explore a different historical era through hands-on art, crafts, and creative problem-solving. Myrtle the Turtle has gone missing at the LASC! We need your help solving the mystery of who took the turtle. Using the techniques that detectives and forensic scientists use, your student will unravel the mystery of the turtle snatching. This hands-on music class invites students to explore the world of music through playing, creating, and performing. You can’t have one without the other! This hands-on camp blends cooking and chemistry for middle schoolers interested in both science and food. Want to learn to care for the Earth through creative projects, exploration, and play? Throughout the week, students will explore topics such as trees, plants, flowers, pollinators, insects, animals, habitats, gardening, recycling and more! Each unit includes engaging and creative projects, sensory activities, and simple science experiences that help preschoolers understand how nature works and how they can help protect our planet.

Arctic Encounter
Grades: K-2nd

Campers will explore the icy world of the Arctic, learning about polar animals, extreme environments, and how creatures like polar bears, penguins, seals, and even killer whales survive in cold climates. Through hands-on art projects, mixed-media creations, and exciting science activities, campers will build a mini Arctic habitat and create projects like penguin pals, polar bears on icebergs, and many more arctic inspired art. This fun and frosty camp blends creativity and discovery for young explorers who love animals, imagination, and snowy adventures!

Splash Lab
Grades: K-5th

Who doesn’t love water and science? Why not combine them! In this hands-on summer camp, students will learn all about water quality while experimenting with fun activities like lava lamps, sink-or-float challenges, saltwater vs. freshwater experiments, water testing, making their own bubbles and much more! Campers will also explore water pollution and discover how they can be activists for clean, healthy water. Of course, each day includes water games outside on the LASC grounds. Be sure to pack extra clothes!

Music Makers Studio: Write, Play, Perform
Grades: 3rd-5th
Teacher: Will Padgett | July 20th-24th, 9:00am – 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)

This hands-on music class invites students to explore the world of music through playing, creating, and performing. Participants will learn the basics of playing a variety of instruments, including ukulele and percussion, while also having the opportunity to bring and play their own instruments. Students will build simple instruments such as can-tars, experiment with rhythm using drums, and explore the history of music across different cultures and time periods. Through guided activities, they will develop foundational music skills, collaborate with peers, and try their hand at songwriting and musical expression. The week will end with a final performance, where students will showcase what they’ve learned for friends and family. No prior musical experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and a love of sound.

Food or Fake
Grades: 6th-8th

Cooking and Sculpture in the same class, who would have thought! In this class, students will take a deep dive into learning basic cooking skills and then take it a step further by creating fun food sculptures. Students will learn to bake and cook simple meals that their whole family can enjoy for dinner. Students will also spend some of the afternoons learning to work with paper mache and plaster. They will be creating 3D sculptures in the representation of REAL food items. Don’t miss the ultimate food challenge. Is it real or fake?

Basic Ceramics
Adult Summer Camp Ages 18+
Teacher: Marianne Brown | July 20th-24th, HALF Day 1:00pm – 4:00pm | 18+ | $250 ($225 Members)

Unwind and get creative in this adult ceramics summer camp! This beginner-friendly class introduces the fundamentals of working with clay, including hand-building techniques, basic forms, and even some wheel throwing; if you’re feeling brave! Participants will learn how clay transforms from soft material to finished ceramic through drying, firing, and glazing. Already have some ceramics experience? Don’t let that stop you from joining in the fun. Our studio is designed for all skill levels, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn new tips and techniques from our fantastic instructor, Marianne Brown, in a creative and fun environment.

Safari Adventures

Spend the week on a wild preschool safari adventure! Students will learn about animals, create fun safari gear, sing songs, read adventurous stories. Students will also design, build and decorate their very own safari ride that they will take out around LASC for a wild adventure.

Little Sprouts Garden Camp
Grades: K-2nd
Teacher: Kylie Adams & Meredith Coffey | July 28th-31st, 9:00am – 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)

This camp is for all those green thumb learners. Campers will explore the science of plants, flowers, and ecosystems while creating beautiful, hands-on art projects like pressed-flower art, painted plant pots, garden markers, plantable seed paper and more. Along the way, students will learn about gardening basics, soil and plant needs, photosynthesis, and the different biomes and climates where plants grow best. Campers will learn to grow their own plants, explore the LASC garden grounds, and discover the role of farmers and community gardens in our world. This camp blends art, science, and nature for curious kids who love to create and get their hands dirty.

Slime Lab

Goggles on! Get ready to get messy and creative with our Slimy Art class! This fun-filled camp is all about exploring the squishy, stretchy world of slime through art and science. Whether you’re making colorful, glittery slime, turning it into an art masterpiece, or conducting a MAD science experiment, you’ll discover new ways to mix and mold slime into your very own artistic and scientific creations.

Cardboard Creations

Calling all builders! Students will work together to create amazing large-scale projects using a variety of cardboard types. Using a variety of cardboard types, along with Makedo tools, chomp saws, tape, paint, and more, campers will bring their ideas to life with cardboard-tastic creations. Through teamwork and collaboration, this class emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Paint a Mural
Grades: 6th-8th

Let’s paint a mural! Students will be guided by artists Stevie Moore and Lennon Michalski, who have each been teaching at The Living Arts & Science Center for over 20 years and are excited to lead this large-scale mural experience. Participants will learn the ins and outs of mural creation, from planning and design to painting techniques and teamwork. This class offers the opportunity to create a large mural inside LASC’s Marksberry Discovery Exhibit as part of the 2026–2027 exhibit. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this unique and lasting project!

Little Builders & Engineers
Grades: Pre-K (ages 3-5)

Calling all little builders! Is your preschooler passionate about building? Then get ready to build, explore, and imagine. Campers will use blocks, recycled materials, and tools to create towers, bridges, and other fun structures while learning basic engineering concepts. Through playful experiments, these little builders will discover how shapes, weight, and design affect their creations. Perfect for curious little engineers who love to build, experiment, and see their ideas come to life!

Rainforest Rangers

Using beautifully illustrated books and your creative powers, get ready to journey through rainforest habitats of your own creation. Explore multi-media materials, clay, paint, felt, and more as we create imaginative animals and landscapes of the rainforest. From magnificent flora to bugs, birds, and other colorful critters, students will be inspired by an imaginary journey through the rainforest. Along the way, students will explore the sights and sounds of the forest while learning skills in both art and science. We will draw, paint, sculpt with clay, and even use paper mâché!

Dino Detectives

This class is perfect for all those dinosaur-fanatics! Step back in time and uncover the mysteries of dinosaurs! Campers will combine art and science the entire week digging for fossils, creating dinosaur fossil rocks, making their own dino bones from papier-mâché, and much more! They’ll explore the history of dinosaurs through books, hands-on experiments, and a dino scavenger hunt. Perfect for curious young paleontologists who love discovery, creativity, and all things prehistoric.

Physics Unleashed

RePurpose Project

Turn trash into treasure in this hands-on, eco-friendly art camp! Students will use recycled materials to design and create an original public sculpture/artwork that will be displayed in LASC’s Discovery Exhibit. Along the way, campers will explore sustainability, learn recycled art practices, and gain insight into museum exhibit design, including how artwork is displayed to engage the public. Perfect for creative middle schoolers who want to make a lasting impact, develop teamwork skills, and think green!
