On June 3, 2025, Philomel Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers, will publish THE DAY THE CRAYONS MADE FRIENDS, the hilarious and highly anticipated follow up to Drew Daywalt and Oliver Jeffers’ beloved, #1 New York Times bestselling picture books, The Day the Crayons Quit and The Day the Crayons Came Home. This highly anticipated next installment follows the curious Crayons on their next adventure: to find new friends.
To celebrate the release, bookstores nationwide will be hosting events with author Drew Daywalt and three costume characters based on some of the series’ most beloved characters. Esteban the Green Crayon, Stubby Blue Crayon, and Red Crayon will set off on a 24-city tour this Summer, visiting bookstores nationwide for special storytime events between June 1 and July 5. Events will feature a storytime reading of THE DAY THE CRAYONS MADE FRIENDS, a meet-and-greet and book stamping with the costume character, crafts, activities, and more.
