Summer P-EBT is a benefit available to Kentucky families. Eligible school-aged children can get $120 per child to buy groceries during the summer. Summer P-EBT/SUN Bucks may have a different name depending on your location.

Families can receive Summer P-EBT on top of other benefits like SNAP and WIC, and children can continue to enjoy free SUN Meals from local meal sites or with SUN Meals To-Go.

The Summer EBT program provides grocery benefits to families with school-aged children in our community. Last year, Summer EBT helped over 395,000 kids in Kentucky get the healthy food that they usually enjoy while they’re in school!

  • Summer EBT is for school-aged children in households that are at or under 185% of federal poverty guidelines.
  • Families receive $120 per eligible school-aged child for groceries (on an existing EBT card or new Summer EBT card)
  • Most eligible families will be automatically enrolled, but some will need to apply.
  • In CEP school(s), families who aren’t receiving SNAP, KTAP, income-based Medicaid or Kinship Care may need to apply. (This is new, not all CEP students will receive a card- the ones who are not directly certified from the above programs, will have to complete a S-EBT application with DCBS)
  • Families can check here if they need to apply, or if they should receive Summer EBT automatically: feedingky.org/sebteligibility

Families can learn more about Summer EBT in Kentucky at bit.ly/KY-SummerEBT

*Non-CEP schools, if students qualified directly (through the above DC programs), they would receive benefits automatically. If the household completed a Free/Reduced application for meal assistance, DCBS has requested that data from districts, so they should not need to complete the S-EBT application.
