DESCRIPTION:Every year\, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resou
 rces offers Free Fishing Days to all anglers\, regardless of whether they 
 live in the state or are just visiting. Free fishing weekend in 2026 is Ju
 ne 6-7. During this weekend\, permits and fishing licenses are not require
 d. All other regulations\, including size limits and the number of fish yo

 ) on Saturday\, June 6 and Sunday\, June 7\, 2026. All lakes and ponds ope

 Fish Hatchery Rd. Morehead. This is one of the biggest fishing events in K
 entucky for kids\; online registration accepted through 9 p.m. (Eastern) M
 ay 31 by clicking here. Some walk-up anglers may be accepted on the day of
  the event until capacity is reached. Gates open at 6 a.m. For kids ages 1
 5 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Limited poles and b
 ait provided\, but participants are encouraged to bring their own bait and
  equipment. Event features three ponds stocked with various fish\, includi
 ng trout and catfish. Several raffles\, each kid gets a small gift.\n\nRus
 sell County: Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery's 38th Annual Catch A Rainb
 ow Kid's Fishing Derby\, 50 Kendall Rd.\, Jamestown. Registration begins a
 t 8 a.m. (Central)\, with fishing from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. for kids up t
 o age 15. Fishing times allotted by age\, with youngest anglers going firs
 t. Anglers older than 4 should bring their own fishing equipment and bait\
 ; kiddie fishing pool available from 9 a.m. until noon for children under 
 5\, with fishing equipment provided. Fly rods not permitted during this ev
 ent. This is one of the largest kids fishing events in Kentucky\, with as
